Manchester United’s Legend Wayne Rooney suggests that the club signs three players instead of Jadon Sancho
Wayne Rooney, the former Man. United’s star has suggested an option for his old club’s pursuit after Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
Jadon Sancho has been one of the club’s top-most signing priority since the commencement of this summer’s transfer window and all steps made towards having the player come to Old Trafford has proven abortive.
With the club making a final plan to have Sancho come to England before the transfer window closes tomorrow, the action seems awkward to Rooney.
The former Red Devil believes that the club could just opt to sign Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, and a new centre-back instead of putting all eggs in the basket, going for Sancho that isn’t even certain to be a reality.
In Rooney’s writings in The Times, he expressed that: “Jadon Sancho is a top player but I find it odd that he has been Manchester United’s transfer priority. Why consider paying close to £100 million for someone similar to the talent you’ve got already?
“United have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and where would Sancho’s arrival leave Mason Greenwood, who plays in the same position and is of a similar age?
“I would rather put that £100 million towards trying to get Harry Kane. Yes, getting Kane out of Tottenham would be difficult, maybe impossible, but United are a club who should always make an effort to sign the very best players and Kane is exactly what Ole Gunnar Solksjaer needs, as Erling Haaland, who United missed out on last year – a genuine No. 9.”
Rooney disclosed that if he was to be the one in charge of recruiting new players in Old Trafford, he would go for another centre-half that will partner Harry Maguire and that perfect person would be Tariq Lamptey of Brighton & Hove Albion who plays the right-back position aside from getting a No. 9.
He also made mention of the need for United to strengthen their centre-back position by going for a player with exceptional qualities.
