Man United have reportedly approached the agent of Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic in the hope of bringing him to Old Trafford but face strong contest from AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur. Serbia international joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2017 in a deal which cost the Serie A side £5m.
Since his arrival in Italy, Nikola has featured in a total of 111 games and boasts a surprisingly decent goal record after netting an excellent 10 times, in all tournaments. PL giants Red Devils have approached Milenkovic’s agent Fali Ramadami in an attempt to understand the centre-back’s availability.
The 23-year-old centre-back has also sparked the interest of AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur. The report goes on to claim that the Serbian defender’s current deal is set to expire in 2022 with Fiorentina hopeful their centre-back will sign a new contract.
However, the report states that should an offer come in, in excess of £23m the La Viola will give serious consideration to allowing the defender to depart. With Tottenham reportedly making contact with his agent, it will be interesting to see how the links develop over the coming weeks.
Signing a defender perhaps does not need to be a priority for Spurs for January, but Nikola’s contract situation hints that there could be scope for an inspired piece of business.
