The Barcelona’s manager Ronald Koeman has come out to give his view about the Barcelona’s superstar – Messi’s form in the La Liga matches played so far in this season. The Dutch manager claims that the Argentine’s form could be better, however, he said that he has no complaints about it.
Lionel Messi, the six times Ballon d’Or winner, has managed to score just one goal (a penalty) for the Blaugrana, created six chances and has completed 11 dribbles out of 19 attempts so far in the La Liga campaign this season. This has been a surprise to Barca’s fans and the Football Club itself as this is not the usual Messi’s form that everyone knows.
The Argentine who previously attempted to leave the club during the just ended summer’s transfer window, was unable to make that a reality after the club’s board of directors under the lead of President Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted that he wouldn’t be released. This made Messi to remain in Camp Nou with just a season (2020-21) left in his contract with the Catalans.
As a result of this, a lot of fans and football experts are of the opinion that the legendary footballer isn’t happy staying at the club and a result, not giving the best of his performance yet in the La Liga as he is known for.
But Koeman has a different view about Messi’s present form; in his statement with the media ahead of Barcelona’s first Champions League match against Ferencvaros on Tuesday, Koeman said:
“Maybe Messi’s form could be better at this moment, but he’s happy, he’s training well, he’s focused, he wants to play and he wants to be captain of the team and he’s improving. I haven’t got any complaints.”
Koeman, talking about their 1-0 loss to Getafe on Saturday, added that Messi just had bad luck with the ball that hit the post and with the final play of the match; he also said that he has no doubt about Messi’s form and everyone will see it in the coming games.
Barcelona will be playing their first Champions League match for this season on Tuesday and will also be facing Real Madrid on Saturday for the first El Clasico match this season and Ronald Koeman said that the Champions League match is the most important of the two matches and he wouldn’t be resting any player for their Champions League match against Ferencvaros.
