Borussia Dortmund’s youngster Youssoufa Moukoko to be named in their UEFA Champions League squad
The Cameroon-born Germany U20 and Borussia Dortmund’s junior team forward Youssoufa Moukoko has been announced to be included in the Dortmund’s senior team squad for the 2020-21 Champions League.
The club confirmed this through its sporting director Michael Zorc that Youssoufa will be registered via the B-list for their Champions League campaign for this season.
The player, who is just 15 years of age has outstanding performances in the club’s junior team; he has scored 134 goals in 86 appearances for the U17 and U19 teams since he had his debut match for the club at the age of 12.
Before now, the player should have been added to the senior team and also added to their Champions League squad but this hasn’t been possible due to his age.
This time around, Moukoko will be included in the Champions League because he will be turning 16 on the 20th of November and that is the eligible age for a player to be included in clubs’ senior team.
In case Youssoufa have his debut Champions League match for Borussia Dortmund against Club Brugge on the 24th of November, he will be the youngest player to have played in the Champions League since the tournament was launched; breaking a record that is currently held by Nigeria’s Celestine Babayaro who played for Anderlecht against Steau Bucharest in the 1994/95 Champions League group stage at the age of 16 years and 87 days.
